The Wilderness

Web game, Illustration, Animation

The Wilderness web application's purpose is to convey the spirit of Kurpie culture. The Wilderness takes a form of an "open world" game, which means that the user discovers game's world freely, without any linear narrative.

Amongst Polish folklore, 'the forest songs' representing Kurpie stand out because of their particularly ancient melodies. Their character closely relates to the woodland of this region. The Wilderness is an internet application presented in the form of a computer game, which enables the player to enter the ancient world of Kurpie region. The player freely, without relying on any linear narration, is able to discover the Wilderness' landscape and the songs that live amidst it. Sound of singing in stereo acts as an encouragement to search for a singer. During the journey, the player makes discoveries about the forest songs and interacts with other players who participate in the game. This application enables internet users to get closer to the richness of the Polish culture.

The appearance and sex of your character are generated randomly. The characters wear traditional Kurpie apparel.
